I started of in the scratch group which had a handicap of 8 minutes to the front of the race. The wind was strong all race making the race very hard and selective from the gun. The scratch group worked well to bring the groups back, it took just over 3 and a half laps to bring it all together. As it came all together I thought it was a good time to attack, I got a gap with Chris Mark of NRG Cycles RT, after half a lap the gap was at over 45 seconds.
With the group chasing behind the gap came down and we were swept up by the leading group of 11 riders with half a lap to go in the head wind section of the course. The race started to get more aggressive with attack after attack none of which was successful, I also attempted a few late attacks which all came to nothing, It came down to the last km I lead the sprint out from the final corner but the bunch came back onto me, I managed to hang on in the uphill headwind sprint for 5th place, overall I was pleased with the way I rode the race and I feel my condition is improving every race. I am looking forward to this coming weekend where I am racing both Saturday and Sunday, and I hope to show myself further.
