The pace was ridiculous from the start with 45miles covered in the first ninety minutes of the race, a break of five riders held a fluctuating gap of 2-3mins over around sixty riders - what remained of the peloton.
Despite efforts by Rapha and NFTO to split the race on the final testing lap of the circuit the situation remained the same.
Heading back into Stockton to complete the 5 x 4 mile laps of the riverside the race was in one line and it stayed pretty much like this for the duration of those finishing laps, with the bigger teams driving the pace at the front, in the end five riders managed to stay away to contest the win, with what remained of the peloton around fifty riders left to contest the minor positions.
Will took Jack up through the bunch with 3 miles to go leaving him well placed to sprint in for 25th and best local rider. A fantastic result for the team at the top level of UK cycling.
