The National Team was in action at both Pete's Race and the Gateshead College/SASMI Circuit race today. Will, Tom, Ben and Collin travelled down to Yorkshire for Pete's Race, where some aggressive early racing saw Collin make it into the breakaway. However this was short-lived, due to an untimely puncture forcing Collin to retire. Will, Ben and Tom therefore helped bring the breakaway back which was achieved after 60 miles of hard through and off with the rest of the peloton. Unfortunately the energy spent doing this became evident at the end of 90 miles, with no result to speak of despite a strong team performance throughout.
Collin however was not going to let a puncture ruin his day and waste his good legs. After riding back to the HQ, he drove the 100 miles up to the Gateshead College/SASMI race, making it there in time for the start. He then proceeded to force a race long breakaway of 6 riders with teammate Jack also involved. Collin's day was completed by riding away solo with 2 laps to go in order to take a very impressive win all things considered. Jack Rees also made it onto the podium in 3rd place on his return from a mid-season break.
