2014 was my first full season back at national series racing. I started my season early with a trip to Newport for my first track meeting and was pleased with a 5th place overall in the "ice breaker" . Next up was a win in the North East Trophy winning the sprint against a former national track champion Nathan Hawthorn.
A trip to Scotland racing for the North East team in the Youth Tour Of Scotland was one of my season highs and lows within the same race. After an ok showing in the town centre crit I was determined to make a good showing on the road race which was 40 mile race with 2600ft of climbing it was ran at a rapid pace of over 23.5mph average not only did I finish I was the youngest in the field and lapped older and more established riders finishing in the lead group of twenty riders.
Two third places in national series races Hetton and Hillingdon were also major highlights for me and confirmed that I was able to be really competitive with the best riders in my age group in the country.
A top 10 in the national circuit champs and just outside the top 10 in the mountain bike champs and representing the North East at the UK School Games, overall it was a pretty full on season.
Aims for next year are the same as they have been for this year and that is to be competitive at a national level and hopefully land a couple of podiums. I hope to work as a strong unit with my team of youth riders.
